Using Socrative in the Primary Classroom
Love this app, because not is it an app but it works in your PC browser too! Socrative allows you to create quizzes for your students which they can complete at their own pace. All they have to do is log into your Room Number. For a full step by step guide on setting up and manage a quiz check out my guide below.
So how do I use this in my classroom you ask?
- I create quizzes for students to complete during Literacy rotations. They read a passage then answer the questions about the text. You can include a mixture of multiple choice and short answer questions.
- A simple Maths revision quiz.
- A grammar quiz to see if the correct parts of speech can be identified.
- As a HSIE topic pretest and post-test. Compare the scores to see growth in learning.
- To gather data - Ask students questions regarding favourite food, favourite sport, favourite colour etc and then print out the spreadsheet and have students create graphs to represent the data collated.
